In February 2024, Cencora disclosed a data breach in a Form 8-K filing with the SEC, stating that personal data was compromised from its information systems. In late May 2024, the California Attorney General’s office published multiple data breach notification samples by some of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the United States, all attributing their data exposure to the February Cencora breach. Some of the data which was compromised includes: full name, address, health diagnosis, medications, and prescriptions. Cencora has not disclosed why it waited over four months to disclose the data breach and begin the process of alerting affected consumers, who may already be suffering the adverse affects of this breach of highly sensitive medical information.
