CPM Investigating Data Breach at Rite Aid Affecting Over 2.2 Million Rite Aid Customers

Hackers may have been circulating stolen customer data as far back as June 6, 2024, which is when Rite Aid admits that its systems were compromised. Criminal hackers that call themselves RansomHub have claimed responsibility for the breach, which includes full names, physical addresses, dates of birth, drivers license information and other government-issued identification numbers presented at the time of purchase of products between June 6, 2017, and July 30, 2018.
Rite Aid began notifying customers after July 15, 2024, even though it discovered the breach on June 6, 2024. Rite Aid has offered no explanation for its delay between learning of the breach and notifying customers.
Companies like Rite Aid must do more to protect consumers’ valuable information.
