Federal Judge Rules that CPM Client's Whistleblower Suit Against Boston Heart Diagnostics May Proceed
In a 48-page decision issued on September 12, 2018, Judge Reggie B. Walton of the United District Court for the District Of Columbia, rejected the bulk of Defendant’s arguments, allowing a whistleblower’s claims of vast healthcare fraud to proceed. The case alleges that Boston Heart Diagnostics, a laboratory company that focuses on tests related to cardiovascular disease, has systematically defrauded taxpayers by paying kickbacks to doctors that order its tests.
The case was brought by Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy on behalf of Chris Riedel, a former Boston Heart board member who has dedicated the last decade of his life to fighting fraud in the medical laboratory industry.
CPM attorneys Niall P. McCarthy, and Justin T. Berger are handling the case, entitled United States ex. Rel. Riedel v. Boston Heart Diagnostics Corp., Civil Action No. 12-1423 (RBW).
