Overview
Pierce Stanley is an associate at Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, LLP where he litigates complex civil actions seeking justice for consumers. Pierce’s practice includes Consumer Protection Class Actions, Defective Products/Mass Torts, and Elder Abuse matters. Previously, Pierce focused on privacy and antitrust matters at a San Francisco law firm.
Pierce is a 2023 graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law. While in law school, Pierce served as Editor-in-Chief of the USF Intellectual Property and Technology Law Journal. He was a privacy extern at Verily Life Sciences and previously served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Andrew Y.S. Cheng of the complex litigation department of the California Superior Court, County of San Francisco.
In law school, Pierce also worked for the Federal Trade Commission, where he assisted in federal government enforcement of consumer protection and competition matters. Additionally, Pierce worked for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Northern California’s technology and civil liberties program and the Digital Justice Initiative of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights.
Before law school, Pierce worked as a public interest law fellow for Demand Progress in Washington, D.C., where he advocated for net neutrality. He also worked as a data analyst and researcher at the Council on Foreign Relations and the Brookings Institution, and he further served as an editor of The New Republic magazine.
Pierce is passionate about social justice and community involvement. During law school, he served as a student clinician with the USF Internet and Intellectual Property Justice Clinic where he assisted clients with privacy and trademark matters.
Pierce is fluent in Spanish.
